18th Gulf Cup in Abu Dhabi, staged at the Zayed Sports City Stadium

With only 2 weeks to build a set of inflatable planets and spherical flags for the 8 participation countries, The Inflatable Event Company team worked tirelessly to meet the shortest of lead times. Our in house printer worked round the clock, our cutting system had been upgraded with the latest software. Many thanks to our team of Juana, Mohini, Chandra, Kim, Lynn, Brenda, Ryan, Mark, Jason, John, Rena, Peter, Rob, Roland, Karine and Bert who all pitched in to meet our clients deadline.

Within a few days of the Inflatable Event Company dispatching its equipment to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, our Special Events Crew of nine headed off to Abu Dhabi to oversea the deployment of our inflatables. Veteran hands at various events from Sydney 2000, Rugby World Cup, Melbourne Commonwealth Games, The Asian Games, The Bledisloe Cup and Australia Day Spectacular, our Event team members are the most experienced in deployment of inflatables at large scale events. Richard, Barnsey, Gavvo, Bora, Ryan, Mark, Ric, Roland and Rob teamed up with the talented rigging crew of Stage One to execute an exciting inflatable component to the show

The 15th Asian Games Doha, Qatar

The Creative and Design Team at David Atkins Enterprises DAE presented The Inflatable Event Company with one of its most challenging projects to date. A genie standing over 16m tall to play a part of The Closing Ceremony at The 15th Asian Games, Doha, Qatar.

The brief included an inflation time of 25 seconds , a mechanical mouth and neck support, extreme artwork treatment, no visible support lines and mobility to emerge from the bowels of the stadium with a 3m height clearance. The Inflatable Event Company's Robert Waddell and team worked closely with Construction Supervisor Jeremy Sparks and "Head Mech" Mark McKinley and the production team at David Atkins Enterprises to bring this genie to life in a mere 4 weeks. To make it more challenging a fully mobile crane was to be concealed within the inflatable and base to assist in its inflation and mobility. The timeline only allowed for a few days to marry the Inflatable Genie and the Crane Structure before shipment to Qatar. Further testing was to recommence in the weeks leading up to the event in Doha.

Ross Noble - Real Talent

The Inflatable Event Company Australia proudly built Ross Noble's Randomist and Fizzy Logic inflatable stage sets. The Inflatable Event Company's Robert Waddell and Roland Mangan worked with Real Talent's Rebecca Etchell to create a huge eye-catching inflatable stage set that spanned the width of most venue stages yet packed away in a compact bundle easily transported in a Transit Van. The stage set pop allowed for easy set-up and removal, generally less than an hour per venue. A central cavity within the inflatable allowed for opening and background projections as required.

Commonwealth Games Melbourne

The Inflatable Event Company was proud to work on a number of projects for The Commonwealth Games Melbourne Ceremonies. A challenging requirement was the supply and fitting of a pair of 90m inflatable lightbeam tubes to the hinged "Noodle" Athletes bridge. We used our special luminous fabric to allow for the lights within the stage to illuminate the tubes in a array of national colours.

An upside down inflatable world globe designed to fast inflate out of the centre stage along with "Top Momma" an inflatable Flying Koala, designed to be carried on a flying system were both featured in The Closing Ceremony.

Rugby World Cup

The Inflatable Event Company was proud to be engaged by Director of Ceremonies Andrew Walsh to build one of the worlds largest inflatable displays ever seen on a stadium field of play for The Opening Ceremony, Rugby World Cup 2003. Twenty One-Eyed Fans representing each of the 20 participating nations provided a spectacular visual . The design and artwork treatment of the 20 flags was overseen by designers Brian Thomson and Robert Dein, The production of the World Cup Inflatables was overseen by The Inflatable Event Company's Robert Waddell and Roland Mangan. The artwork application was to have a hand applied feel to it and carried out by our artist extraordinaire "William", and special acknowledgement to our in-house designer / pattern maker Juana.

To make the project even more challenging each of the inflatable floats were made fully mobile. Concealed within the chrome mobile float was it's own power generation, special fast flow inflation systems. A team of 120 -plus operators assisted the One-Eyes entry to the field and through a choreographed routine prior to their inflation.

With the declaration of the event open The One-Eyed Fans emerged from their floats, towering near 12m tall. On queue a special internal lighting system by Chameleon was activated adding to the spectacular. Being part of the finale of The Opening Ceremony, a key ingredient was the ability to clear the field of play of inflatables in a matter of minutes making way for the international broadcast of the opening game Rugby World Cup 2003.
